LATE NIGHT THOUGHTS
The street lights die in sudden unison
Await tomorrow after turning off today
Sleep in its meandering procession
Has forgotten to collect me on its way
Alone I lie, my longings all unheard
I wonder if by some telepathic force
My thoughts may be transferred
To your sleep’s untroubled course
The moon’s silver sliver slides across my room
As gentle in its touch as my thoughts are
Is my forbidden love to be as the bloom
Of a forever unseen flower?
